Glass tables, be they dining room or coffee tables, are attractive for your home or office, giving a sense of elegance and class to any room. However, because of their design, specific things should be decorated on a glass table so that it works properly aesthetically and the sensitive surface of the table isn't damaged. Does this Spark an idea?
Nothing Metal
Metal centerpieces or heavy metal objects shouldn't be put on the surface of glass coffee tables. These can scratch or crack the glass when dragged across them or bumped. That said, if felt pads can be added under the surface of these metal objects without looking tacky, most thicker glass tables can support the weight of very heavy metal objects placed upon them. But it is a generally good rule of thumb not to put metal objects on glass table surfaces.
More Glass
Glass on glass is sometimes the perfect types of decor for a glass table. For a coffee table, small uniform glass dishes that hold candles, candies or potpourri are some good examples of using glass items as decor on the table. For a large dining room table, large glass vases filled with flowers, stones and water can be used as centerpieces on the table. With very long dining room tables, a main vase centerpiece can be in the middle of the table and smaller vases or glass items can be placed halfway between the end of the table and the centerpiece.
Porcelain
Porcelain is another good type of material for glass table decor. While porcelain can still scratch the surface, it's not as sensitive to it as metal against glass. Small statues, beautiful ashtrays and a variety of other artistic centerpieces made from porcelain can really pull a glass table together, be it a coffee table or a dining room table. It all depends on what type of decor you want to your glass table to feature.
