Babies may be small, but it takes them very little time to accumulate lots of stuff. New parents often receive plenty of baby clothes and accessories as gifts, and may end up with lots of things and don't know how to store them in the baby's dresser. Coming up with a plan of action can help you utilize the baby dresser to its best capacity.
Rotation Method
Depending on how many items of clothing your baby has, and how large the dresser is you will need to decide how to categorize things. There are several ways to do it. You can place the clothing that is the baby's current size in the top drawer, and then with each succeeding drawer down place larger and larger sizes. This provides storage as well as helps you easily dress baby by only providing currently useful sizes at your fingertips. If your baby has a significant amount of clothing and you want to be sure he gets to wear everything before he outgrows it, you can rotate the clothing after each laundry day. The top will be for the stuff the baby will wear this week or this month. The bottom drawer is where all of the freshly washed items he just got done wearing can go and the middle can be for the next-in-line clothing.
Supply Closet
Baby dressers do not have to hold clothing; the baby dresser space can also be used for supplies. You can convert the top of the baby dresser to a changing table, and use the dresser drawers to store diapers, wipes, lotions and other things that are needed after baby takes his bath.
Divide and Conquer
A single dresser drawer is usually large enough to accommodate a number of baby outfits for the current season, several dozen pairs of socks and some baby shoes. You can go to the store and purchase drawer dividers and use different areas of the dresser for different items. For example the top drawer can be divided into socks and shoes, the middle drawer holds clothing and the bottom drawer can hold blankets and jackets.
