How to Steam Clothing

How to Steam Clothing

Steaming is a gentle and quick alternative to pressing or ironing out wrinkles from your clothing. Ironing can burn fabric or destroy its fibers, whereas steam simply and effectively removes wrinkles. It is a good idea to steam particularly delicate garments, such as silk or satin. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Fill your steamer with an appropriate amount of water, which is indicated on the machine.

    2

Use hangers to hang your garment on the portable steamer rack or on a steam board. Hang pants at the cuff. Make sure your garment is not touching any other clothes or objects.

    3

Hold the steamer hose in an upright position and touch lightly with the nozzle. Keeping the steamer upright prevents condensation from collecting in the hose.

    4

Slowly drag the nozzle down and across the fabric until all the wrinkles are removed. If wrinkles are persistent, insert the steamer from under the fabric and steam from the inside out.
