Formal Table Centerpiece Ideas

Formal Table Centerpiece Ideas

Centerpieces are the focal point to any dining room table. You don't have to go through a lot of trouble to create a formal centerpiece to impress your guests. From a creative candle centerpiece to a martini glass centerpiece, use your imagination to make a formal centerpiece your friends will envy. A quick trip to your local craft and retail store is all you need to get started. Does this Spark an idea?

Candle Centerpiece

Candles and clear jars of different heights, colors and sizes can create an elegant centerpiece for your dining room table. Place tall, clear glass candle jars in the middle of a mirror and put white, unscented pillar candles in the jar. The unscented candles will not compete with the aroma of your dinner. Put medium and smaller candles with clear jars around these larger candles. Spread clear marbles and Spanish moss around the base of the candles to create a formal look. Light all the candles to create a dramatic centerpiece at your formal dining room table. Another idea is to use red and green candles for the Christmas holidays or pastel-colored candles for Easter.

Black and White Centerpiece

Create a black and white centerpiece by using a white tablecloth and a black runner down the middle of the table. Purchase clear, square vases and fill with black marbles, white marbles or both. Put white flowers in the vase to create a formal centerpiece. If you are using the centerpiece for a dinner party, use fresh flowers and pour water into the vase. Tie black and white ribbon around the vase for added decoration.

Martini Glass Centerpiece

Purchase extra large martini glasses from your local craft or retail store. You will also need a beveled-edge mirror tile, small glass votives, clear glass marbles or stones, water and real or artificial flower heads. Place the martini glass on the mirror tile in the middle of the formal table. Put two votive candles around the martini glass. Fill the jar about half way with clear marbles and pour water over them (about an inch higher than the level of the marbles). Place an artificial flower head, such as a large daisy floating in the martini glass. Use fresh flower heads if you are having the dinner party soon. Tie ribbon around the stem of the glass for more decoration. You can also substitute the marbles for any color you prefer.
