How to Diaper a Boy

How to Diaper a Boy

Having a baby is a joyous experience and the birth of a boy brings its own unique challenges to the parenting arena. Often lamented but unavoidable is diapering boys, which commonly leaves you a mess from the midchanging accident from your baby. When removing a baby boy's diaper, the natural response to the air exposure is for him to relieve himself, so you need to be prepared. Luckily, there is a safe and effective way to change your son's diaper without having to shower yourself off afterward.

Instructions

    1

Lay your boy on a changing surface and position him directly in front of you. Make sure his head and body are fully supported and not hanging off the surface or he could slide off during changing.

    2

Open two clean diapers so they are prepared and place them next to the baby. Set wipes and diaper cream to his other side so all of your needed tools are nearby during the changing.

    3

Pull open the diaper your baby is wearing and leave the front standing vertically up between his legs. Check if the diaper he is wearing is dirty or just wet and remove as many wipes as necessary from the package.

    4

Position your baby's genitals upward and place one of the clean prepared diapers just over them and his stomach. This diaper will prevent you or the walls getting wet from any accidents that occur.

    5

Lift him up by the legs, pull the used diaper out from under him and set the used diaper aside. Use the prepared wipes to clean his bottom and genitals of any dirt and urine on him. Apply diaper cream if his skin is dry or irritated or if a rash is apparent.

    6

Slide the second prepared diaper underneath your baby's bottom, with the tabbed side under him. Leave the front of the diaper down, flat on the changing surface.

    7

Remove the diaper placed over his stomach and point his genitals downward. Close the lower diaper over him and secure the tabs around his waist so they are snug and comfortable on the baby. Throw the used diaper in the garbage.
