A table pad is a padded piece of material put on top of a table. It protects the table from things being dropped or dragged across the surface. Especially in the case of wooden tables, the pad prevents gashes and scratches on the table top surface. A table pad cover goes over the table pad and holds the pad in place. Some covers are liquid-resistant, protecting both the table and the pad from spills. If the cover becomes torn or you can see visible stains through the tablecloth, you can replace the cover. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
- 1
Remove everything from the table top such as candles, centerpieces and dishes. Remove any tablecloth clamps used to hold the tablecloth in place.
2Lift off the tablecloth and place it aside revealing the table pad cover.
3Lift one corner off the table pad cover carefully. Repeat with the other corners of the table. Since the cover usually fits snugly you may need to use your fingers to reach the underside of each corner and pull the edge of the cover up and over the table edge.
4Place the old table pad cover aside. Inspect the table pad itself. Reposition and straighten it out as needed. The table pad should lay flat on top of the table surface. Use your hands to smooth out the table pad.
5Open up the new table pad cover and lay it across the table. Carefully tuck each corner of the cover under each corner edge of the table. Be careful not to slide the table pad or allow the pad to bunch up under the cover.
6Use your hands to smooth out the surface of the cover and gently tug on the sides and edges until the cover evenly covers the entire table top surface.
7Replace the table cloth and anything you removed from the table in Step 1.
