Banquet Serving Styles

There are many different types of banquet serving styles. Certain ones are appropriate based on the nature and formality of an event. Does this Spark an idea?

Individual Plates

    One banquet style calls for individual plates. Much like in a restaurant, each quest receives one.

Table d'Hote

    With table d'hote, French for host's table, platters of food are set on each table. These are passed among the guests seated at the table.

Russian

    In the Russian style, trays are presented to each guest and they serve themselves from the trays.

French

    In the French tradition, the first waiter serves the dish to the guests. The second waiter serves the sauce.

British

    In the British style, large platters of food are set on the tables and the guests are initially served by the waiters. After the first serving, the guests are free to help themselves.

Buffet

    Dishes are set up in lines, and guests move through the lines to serve themselves.
