How to Make a Concession Stand From a Canopy

One of the best ways to earn money for your school sports team or club is to create a concession stand. Not only are concession stands excellent fundraising tools, but they can be fun to create and run with your friends. The best part about concession stands is that they can be created using items found around the house, like a small canopy tent and a folding table. The canopy tent can be as large or as small as you like.

Ask permission from your local school or sports team before you start creating a concession stand. Some of them may require you to obtain a fundraising or business permit.

Buy the inventory products that you will be selling at your canopy concession stand from bulk sales stores like Sam's Club or Costco. Be sure to buy beverages, snacks and candy. Be careful not to overestimate your sales. If you run out of inventory on your first day, you can always buy more products later.

Make business signs for your canopy concession stand using markers and poster board. Make one sign that indicates where the concession stand money is going such as, "We Support the Tigers!" and one sign listing the prices for your products.

Carefully select prices for your products. If it costs $9.00 to buy a 24-pack of soda pop, and you sell the cans at $0.75 each, your concession stand will make roughly a $0.38 profit on each can.

Find a place near the sports field that is large and flat enough to support your canopy.

Set up your canopy and folding table. Place your inventory items across the table so that your customers can see them. Position your signs and posters so that they are easily visible to your customers.

Organize your money in a money box. Stock it full of coins before you begin. Many customers will not have exact change.
