Decorating with inspirational themes can make a home seem more peaceful and relaxing. Christian themes of peace and angelic beings are good approaches to achieve those goals. Decorate a prayer room or your entire house in a Christian motif. Combine recognized Christian symbols as well as colors from peaceful nature like blue and green. Does this Spark an idea?
Cross Tablescape
On an entryway table or dining room table create a cross tablescape. Set a large standing cross in the center of the table. On either side of the cross, place two smaller crosses. These three crosses represent the crucifixion of Jesus and the two thieves. Choose crosses in a faux stone finish. They should have felt attached to the bottom to prevent scratching wood surfaces. Place silk Easter lilies around the cross arrangement. A full swag arrangement or just a few individual lilies make a nice presentation. On the largest center cross, drape a piece of purple silk cloth about a foot in length. The color purple is used in Christianity in reference to Christ's royalty. Drape material over the two horizontal bars of the cross. Place two white pillar candles on glass candle holders between the crosses. Light the candles on special nights to welcome guests or set a meditative mood.
Victorian Angels
Decorate a mantelpiece with Victorian angels. Place a large swag of silk flowers and greenery on your mantelpiece. Green magnolia leaves with white magnolia flowers would be good choices. Above the fireplace, hang a large picture with angels as the subject matter. Set three gold cherubs on the fireplace in different positions. Arrange the greenery behind it. Set crystal crosses amongst the greenery. On a corner of the mantelpiece, add a set of small leather bibles with burgundy covers. Hang two sconces, one on either side of the picture. Remove the glass sconce and hang a gold cherub Christmas ornament from the sconce. Replace the sconce. Set a candle inside each one.
Scripture Art
Display your favorite scripture by choosing art that features passages from the Bible. Choose popular scriptures like "For I know the plans I have for you ... " from Jeremiah 29:11. Or the household prayer, "As for me and my house we shall serve the Lord." Buy the pictures already framed and set against moving scenes from nature. Plaques and faux stones with scripture set in them look nice displayed on hallway walls or setting in a corner niche.
