Instructions

Assessing the Space

    1

Decide on a style for the entryway; formal, informal contemporary or shabby chic are a few of the possibilities. Purchase furnishing and accessories that match the style.

    2

Place a bench or a set of chairs for seating and an occasional table to display a floral arrangement.

    3

Display vintage or heirloom pieces or over-sized wall sculpture pieces.

Painting Options

    4

Install a chair rail around the lower portion of the wall, at least one third of the way, and paint the two areas the same color. The texture and definition of the chair rail will draw your eye around the room rather than up.

    5

Paint a horizontal stripe on the wall to make the ceiling feel lower. Try a monochromatic color scheme for a look that is easy to furnish and accessorize without being too fussy or busy.

    6

Take advantage of the walls height and paint a mural on a focal wall and paint the remaining walls in a complementary color of the artwork.
