How to Remove Heat Marks From Wood Tables

Keeping wood tables healthy keeps them looking like new. With a little wood polish or oil, little stains, nicks and scratches can be erased easily. However, heat marks can leave a permanent stain on the table and damage it forever. Replacing the table can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, but leaving the stain can be very embarrassing. Luckily, there are two very effective ways in getting rid of those unsightly heat marks. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Method for lacquered wooden surfaces only

    1

Combine the toothpaste with baking soda. Stir together to make a paste with the two ingredients.

    2

Rub the mixture over the stain. Continue rubbing the paste in until the paste feels warm.

    3

Wipe the paste off of the wood with a damp cloth.

    4

Repeat step 1-3 (if necessary) to completely get rid of the mark.

    5

Apply furniture polish or oil to the table. Wipe off with a dry cloth. The stain will be gone!

Fighting Heat with Heat

    6

Put the t-shirts directly on top of the heat mark.

    7

Turn the iron on a medium setting.

    8

Iron the t-shirts on the mark, using steam while ironing the shirts. Iron the shirts for only 20 seconds.

    9

Remove the shirts. Allow several minutes for the wood to cool down.

    10

Apply furniture polish or oil to the table. Wipe off with a dry cloth, and see the mark disappear!
