How to Decorate a Large Office at Work

Decorating large offices in the workplace can be a challenge. Due to their sheer size, it's often practical to utilize the office space in more than one functional area. Consider the needs of the occupant and create a secondary space that will offer a versatile office. See how to decorate a large office at work with style and functionality.

Instructions

    1

Paint the office in a warm, neutral color. Large offices can feel cold when they have towering white walls surrounding you when you work.

    2

Determine how the large office is going to be used and divide the furnishings accordingly to help decorate it. Establish a work area to do day-to-day tasks. Place a desk, file cabinet and essential work supplies in that area.

    3

Outline the secondary functional area of the office. Consider these tasteful additions to office to decorate it: a couch and love seat for visitors, a round conference table and matching chairs, a series of bookcases for a library and a large project table for ongoing assignments.

    4

Distribute task and overhead lighting. A few coordinating table lamps and floor lamps will do the trick. Use a large mirror to reflect the light from a window or opposite a floor lamp.

    5

Position a large, multicolored rug that will complement the wall color and anchor the space. Use it in conjunction with the desk area or to define the secondary work area.

    6

Hang pictures at eye level or a bit higher if there are high ceilings. This will draw the eye up and visually disperse the dcor throughout the room.

    7

Decorate with window treatments to finish the room. A calm print would be a nice touch to decorate the office, since the room is so large.
