Adorn a plain round table with a table skirt and you have a table that complements your interior decor and adds a touch of color. Making a basic table skirt is a fast project that many people with even novice-level skills can easily complete. After making the skirt, add a special element by sewing trim to the bottom edge. Measure the trim yardage for a table skirt with a simple math formula.
Instructions
- 1
Lay the table skirt out onto a flat surface and smooth out every wrinkle so the skirt is a perfectly flat circle.
2Measure the diameter of the table skirt using the tape measure. Find the measurement in inches and write the number down on the paper.
3Multiply the diameter in inches by 3.2. Add 1 inch for overlapping the trim. Divide the total by 36 to find the yards of trim you need to stitch around the table skirt. For example, if your table skirt diameter is 60 inches, multiply 60 by 3.2 to get 192 inches. Add 1 inch to get 193 inches. Divide 193 by 36 to get 5.4 yards of trim.
