Ideas for Decorating Wedding Tents

Ideas for Decorating Wedding Tents

A wedding tent can be plain at first sight, but with some inside lighting and a few decorations you can bring the tent to life. Lighting really is key in making your wedding tent an inviting place to be. There are several ways to add extra light to the tent, many of which could be combined if you so wish. Since you don't have the traditional spaces to decorate, also concentrate on making the tables stand out with eye-catching decorations.

Paper Lanterns

Paper lanterns can also help with the wedding theme.

Paper lanterns can add both color and light to your wedding reception tent. Strung across the "roof" of the inside of the tent can create a soft lighting that can set a romantic mood, especially for weddings held late in the day. The lanterns can also be strung to line the perimeter of the tent, hanging just below the edge of the tent. This will make the tent more aesthetically pleasing from both the inside and outside of the tent. You can also choose to go with all white paper lanterns for a softer look than colored lanterns offer. Keep the lanterns on even when the sun is out so they continuously offer a warm glow.

Lots of Candles and Flowers

Various candle sizes can add to the appeal.

Wedding tents can be fairly plain on their own, so filling them with lots of candles for light and lots of flowers for color can turn a simple atmosphere into something lavish. Candles can grace all of the tables, including the gift table and food tables, while flowers can be put in buckets, vases and hanging baskets around the tent. Loose flower petals can also be strewn across the tables for even more color. You want your guests to remember they are outside, yet still feel the warmth of an indoor space while under the tent. Filling the atmosphere with fragrant flowers and candles will create extra light and a cozy environment.

String lighting

Tube lighting can serve the same purpose.

White string lighting is a great decoration for a wedding tent. Strings can be wrapped around the posts that are holding the tent up, the cross bars on the inside of the tent, and even around the table legs of the tables inside of the tent. String lighting is inexpensive and can be re-used at Christmas time. Filling the tent with an abundance of string lights will offer a twinkle over the reception and can cover some of the less appealing parts of the tent. Consider hanging twinkle lights from the edge of the tent to welcome guests into the tent from the outside.
