Shark steam cleaners heat water and use the steam to clean floors, appliances, counters, outdoor areas and cars. If you use the cleaner until no more steam emerges, you will have no water left in the unit. If you have to store or transport the unit you may need to empty the water tank. The unit's de-mineralization, which is suggested every 10 to 15 tankfuls if you are not using distilled water, requires filling the water tank with a vinegar solution. You need to empty the tank after this process since that is not a cleaning solution. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
- 1
Unplug the Shark floor cleaner and press the steam trigger. If all the steam has released from the boiler while cleaning, very little or no water will be left in the unit.
2Place the cleaner on a flat, firm surface and let it cool for at least 15 minutes before you empty the water. If you access the water tank while the unit is still hot, steam may burst out and scald you.
3Push the safety cap down and turn it counter-clockwise until it comes off. The safety cap will not advance unless you put adequate pressure on it.
4Tilt the cleaner over the sink to empty the water. If you are emptying the water after cleaning the tank with vinegar, you will empty water, vinegar and mineral deposits.
5Replace the safety cap. Turn it clockwise until it is secure.
