How to Make a Wedding Cake Tent

How to Make a Wedding Cake Tent

A wedding cake tent can add a unique touch to wedding decor while highlighting the cake as a centerpiece of the wedding. You can personalize the tent with colored fabric that matches the wedding theme along with flowers or lights. A 7-foot-by-7-foot square-shaped tent is appropriate for showing off the wedding cake during a reception and is relatively simple to build. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Arrange four of the two-by-fours in a square-shaped frame; nail the two-by-fours together so they are sturdy and secure. Nail the remaining four two-by-fours onto the square as legs, with one post at each corner. The tent frame should resemble a large table with no top.

    2

Cut a square from the fabric that is large enough to cover the top of the tent, then cut the remaining fabric into four strips of equal length to wrap around the posts. Use the fabric of your choice; you could use a thick linen, tulle or satin.

    3

Wrap the fabric around the posts of the tent frame and secure at the top and bottom with nails. You can pull the fabric tight and nail or allow excess fabric for a draped look.

    4

Position the fabric square over the top of the tent frame so it is even on all sides and secure it with nails.

    5

Wrap white lights around the posts and tuck real or artificial flowers in the fabric around the posts on the day of the wedding celebration for a more personalized look.
